Conference Details

Thank you for your interest in Bentley University's 27th Annual High School Conference.  Complete details about BMUN '14 will be released in the fall.  We are hard at work planning the logistics for the upcoming conference.  If you have any questions regarding our conference prior to the fall, please feel free to browse our BMUN '13 microsite or e-mail us with any questions!

Two Things That Make BMUN Unique

The "All-Inclusive" Model United Nations Experience

We understand that the "traditional" Model UN conference expenses can add-up throughout the weekend.  When you register for other conferences, your conference fees only go towards the conference itself; you are on your own for food, lodging, local transportation, and other expenses that quickly add up.  At BMUN, we pride ourselves in being the "all-inclusive" Model UN conference.  Our conference fees cover delegate fees, lodging (at the Waltham Westin), social activities, meals, snacks, and local area transportation.  The only part of the package that is non-inclusive is what you decide to do on our excursion night!

The "Education-Focused" Model United Nations Experience

At BMUN, we place a strong emphasis on delegate development and educational experience, not on competition between delegates.  Our aim is to provide a forum for spirited and realistic debate that challenges delegates to represent their nation's position, compromise with other delegates, and learn to both articulate and defend their nation's policy.  We do not believe in formal awards because our staff is not focused on selecting "winners", but on each and every delegate's learnign experience—we want everyone to learn about international relations and also learn to love MUN as much as we do!

Conference Logistics

Set in the suburbs of Boston in Waltham, The BMUN High School Conference is centered within the academic confines of Bentley University, one of the nation’s leading business schools.  Delegates will be hosted in a premier hotel area hotel.  In the past two years, the conference has been held the Waltham Westin.  We also offer a Commuter Program for local schools to attend the conference without staying at the hotel at a reduced conference fee.

Delegates arrive at Bentley University for check-in Friday afternoon until the conference is called to a closure at Closing Ceremonies Sunday afternoon.  Each school is provided with a variety of countries to represent in our different committees.  Delegates are assigned to a committee consisting of three different topics to potentially debate.  Speeches, debate, negotiation, compromise, and (hopefully) resolution then takes place throughout the six different committee sessions.  This year, to help delegates prepare and stimulate the beginning of debate, delegates are also required to draft and submit Position Papers for two of their committee's three topics.

Throughout the weekend, beyond the six committee sessions, delegates are provided with transportation back-and-forth from the hotel to Bentley, have an always-exciting Excursion Night on Saturday after committee, have a formal dinner between committee sessions on Friday, and are provided with food and snack throughout the weekend (lunch all three days, breakfast on Saturday & Sunday).
